Microneedling in Puyallup, WA
Microneedling is one of my favorite treatments because it works with your skin, not against it. Instead of covering up a concern, it gives your skin a controlled reason to repair itself and build new collagen. It's a quiet, steady kind of improvement, and it's one of the best things you can do for overall skin quality.
One thing I hear all the time is, "I really want to do it, I'm just nervous about the healing." That's completely fair. My goal is for you to know exactly what to expect, from the moment you sit down until you're enjoying your results.
I offer microneedling at my private studio inside Sola Salon in Puyallup, and on Mondays at my private studio in Bonney Lake. I do every treatment myself, one-on-one.
How microneedling works
Microneedling (also called collagen induction therapy) uses a device with very fine needles to create thousands of tiny, precise channels in the skin. Your body reads those micro-injuries as a signal to repair, and it responds by producing new collagen and elastin. Collagen gives skin its firmness, strength, and smooth texture. Our natural production slows with age, which is when fine lines, larger-looking pores, and dullness start to show up.
The improvements keep developing for weeks after each session as new collagen forms.
Microneedling can help with:
Acne scars and uneven texture
Fine lines and early signs of aging
Enlarged-looking pores
Dull or tired-looking skin
Hyperpigmentation, such as sun damage and post-acne marks
Why a series works best
Collagen takes time to build, and each session builds on the last. I generally recommend a series of 4 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Deeper acne scarring or more significant texture concerns may need more. Most people see a progressive improvement with each session, although results vary.
A note about pigment and melasma
Microneedling can improve many kinds of pigmentation, including sun damage and post-acne marks. Melasma is different. It can worsen with heat or inflammation, so it needs a more careful, customized plan. If you have melasma, we'll talk about whether microneedling, a VI Peel, or another approach makes more sense for your skin.
Who is a good candidate?
Most skin types can do well with microneedling. During your consultation, I'll look at your skin and review your health history and medications. We'll wait or talk about other options if you have active acne breakouts or a skin infection in the area, an active cold sore, a recent sunburn, or are pregnant, or if you've used isotretinoin (Accutane) recently. If you get cold sores, tell me ahead of time.
What to expect at your appointment
Plan on about 60–90 minutes, including about 30 minutes of numbing. With a prescription-strength numbing cream, most people feel pressure and vibration, and some areas, like the forehead and around the mouth, feel a little more sensitive. Afterward, your skin will feel like a mild sunburn: red, warm, and tight. That's exactly what we want. Expect about 24 hours of redness and up to 72 hours of pinkness. Around days 2–3, skin can feel dry and a little rough, like fine sandpaper. Pores may look bigger for a few days as debris works its way up. They aren't actually larger. Most people go back to work the next day.
Every treatment includes a full Epionce Recovery kit so you have exactly what your skin needs while it heals.
Arrive with clean skin, no makeup.
Stop retinoids, exfoliating acids, and scrubs a few days beforehand.
Avoid sunburn, tanning, and self-tanner on the area for at least 1–2 weeks.
Tell me about any new medications, cold sore history, or recent filler or Botox in the area.
Aftercare
Gently cleanse that evening or the next morning with a mild, non-exfoliating cleanser, then use your Epionce Recovery kit.
Wait at least 24 hours before makeup (48 hours is even better).
Skip swimming, hot tubs, saunas, and heavy exercise for 48 hours.
Avoid retinoids, acids, and active ingredients until I clear you to restart your routine.
Use a mineral SPF 30+ daily, and avoid prolonged direct sun for the first several days. Think of sunscreen as part of the treatment.
Don't pick at dry or flaky skin. Let it shed on its own.
Safety
Microneedling is a medical procedure, and I treat it that way. I assess your skin before every session, choose the needle depth for each area, and use sterile, single-use needle tips. Every treatment is done by a licensed nurse practitioner, not delegated. Side effects are usually mild and temporary, such as redness, swelling, dryness, and pinpoint bleeding during treatment. Less commonly, breakouts, infection, or pigment changes can happen, and results vary from person to person. I'll go over all of this with you in advance so nothing is a surprise.

Frequently asked questions
Does microneedling hurt?
Most people are pleasantly surprised. With prescription-strength numbing, it mostly feels like pressure and vibration. Many people rate it around a 2–4 out of 10.
How many sessions will I need?
I generally recommend a series of 4, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Acne scars or deeper texture concerns may need more. Results vary.
When will I see results?
Many people notice brighter, healthier-looking skin within the first week. More noticeable changes in texture and fine lines usually build around 4–6 weeks after treatment as collagen forms.
Can I go back to work the next day?
Usually, yes. You may still look a little pink, especially if you have fair skin. Many people like booking toward the end of the week.
Can I do microneedling in the summer?
Yes. You'll just need to be diligent with sun protection while your skin heals: SPF, a hat, and limited direct sun for the first several days.
Can I get microneedling in Bonney Lake?
Yes. Microneedling is offered at my private Bonney Lake studio on Mondays. The exact location is shared after you book.
